AB The article deals with the comparison of the modificatory word-formation categories concept of derivative nouns (including their lexical material) in "M. Dokulil's" Tvoreni slov v cestine, 1, 2 (Word formation in Czech, 1-2) and in "F. Sticha's" academic grammars, especially in Velka akademicka gramatika spisovne cestiny (The Great Academic Grammar of Standard Czech). Each of these concepts brings a distinct theory methodological approach to the noun suffix derivation systematics of modificatory type in Modern Czech, and positives for a deeper knowledge of the word-formation system. At the same time, both the concepts show some weaker points in the description of the word-formation system, therefore in the classification of the relevant lexemes into them.
