The paper deals with a few of the most frequent Slovak buzzwords that occur in internet communication, mostly in online newspapers, blogs, social media and discussion forums. They very often copycat expressions of Czech origin (riešiť/neriešiť, nemusím, dostalo/dostane-Zos-to, prišlo/príde-Zos-to, ustáť, vytešovať sa) and therefore the analysis also points out the parallels and differences between the two languages. The author concentrates on changes in their meaning towards semantic entropy and examines how context helps to identify the intended meaning of buzzwords in particular situations. It also describes morphological and syntactic specifics of the analyzed buzzwords as well as their collocability in comparison to their "neutral" use. The paper underscores that buzzwords are used more to impress percipients rather than effectively express specific meaning.
