The treatise demonstrates the ways variants in the Vatican critical edition of the Vulgate can be used while analyzing Church Slavonic translations of biblical prophetic books (Prophetae minores) incorporated in Croatian Glagolitic breviaries.

The author attempts to verify the methods of cognitive linguistics via analysis of metaphors found in the Gospel of Matthew of the Codex Marianus. The study examines the nature of the source domains of metaphorical concepts and presents possible partial conclusions. Within the individual domains the author takes into account etymology, anthropology and historical sociolinguistics.

Using methods of functional and structural analysis the author observes that sound units and their systemic relations are the core of analogy among language, speech and music. Structure of sound unit is analogical or parallel in details only - because music is communicative mean with the esthetic value but language primary not. Language is parallel to music secondary only, approaching music in poetry and singing.

The paper deals with Hašek's text as the ingenious game with paradoxes. Paradox is reflected here as the compositional and thematical strategy in its formal and ideological aspects. The author describes the Hašek's fictional world not as absurd, but only as world denying the logics that approaches the man as the object only. Švejk as the person is a formulation of conviction that people can preserve their destiny in their own hands face to face with the ruthless mechanism of history.

The main role of the book Hovory s T. G. Masarykem was to mediate president's thoughts to the Czech nation and to show its moral background (i.e. the president's life and work). The book Hovory s T. G. Masarykem played another, very special role - the book influenced the birth and character of Čapek's crucial prose, so called "noetic trilogy". This fact fundamentally strenghten the position of the book Hovory s T. G. Masarykem in the context of Čapek's work.
